The Festival of architecture & design “SPEKA” took place in Dnepropetrovsk, Ukraine on December 8-9, 2008.
The leading architects and designers of Ukraine, Russia and the former Soviet republics came to discuss the general problems of architecture and design. During the festival expositions of architectural, design and art studios, professional round-table discussions, professional editions presentations and new technologies in projecting took place at “Super Studio Davis” operating floors , “Grande Piccoli” salon, Architect association house and “ITIS” gallery.
Works were presented in five nominations: architecture, town-planning, design, popularization of architecture and design, art.
The festival also saw two presentations:
• The presentation of Dedalo Minosse International Prize, in which the Latvian architects’ „Baltais Vējš” project by
“Kubs” design bureau participated for the first time. The Dedalo Minosse International Prize presentation was
held by the President of BAC,
Baltic Architecture Center, the representative of the Union of Architects of
Russia in Latvia, Aivija Barda.
• The presentation of the “VEMA 2006, city of the future” project. This exhibition was the first one held in the
new pavilion of Italy on the Tenth Venice Architecture Biennale, 2006.
The festival was organized by informational center “ADS-info”, Art-Director and President of organizational committee Demidova N., and Dnepropetrovsk Regional Organization of the National Union of Architects of Ukraine, Chairman Shkovyra A.
